Skier triggered slide on Cardiac ridge
Instabilities noted yesterday remained active today. Both human stability tester slides and natural activity was noted on the approach to and entry into upper main Cardiff.
We skied a run on a north face without incident. Others had broken a trail up the ridge, which we followed. One in the other party skied safely. The second skier wasn't so lucky.
He triggered a slide after making a few turns, disappearing.
The slide begins picking up speed
and spreading.
The skier reappears, still upright.
It looks like he may outrun the slide, but
forces increase and he starts going down,
disappearing once again.
He rode the slide for a few hundred vertical before it passed him by unburied.
A view of the slide from the bottom, looking up.
Exciting to watch and fortunate everybody's okay.
